[00:00:00] Maya Acosta: When it comes to plant-based nutrition, there is a lot of misinformation out there. People often think that they will not get enough protein or that they have to give up their favorite foods. However, this cannot be further from the truth. Plant-based diets are not only healthy, but they can help to prevent and reverse disease.

[00:00:19] You have more power over your health than what you've been told. This is the Healthy Lifestyle Solutions Podcast. I'm Maya Acosta, and I'm passionate about finding healthy lifestyle solutions to support optimal human health. If you're willing to go with me together, we can discover how simple lifestyle choices can help improve our quality of life.

[00:00:40] And increased longevity in a big way. Let's get started. Hello, my friends. Welcome back to another episode of the Healthy Lifestyle Solutions podcast. I'm your host, Maya Acosta, and in this episode, we are going to talk about a challenge that I have for you. Now, it is the month of January. It's a new year.

[00:01:01] It's 2023, and you're probably looking to. Feel better this year to maybe lose a little bit of weight. Maybe you wanna get off some of your medications. So my recommendation for you is to learn a little bit more about what it means to adopt a whole food plant-based lifestyle. And so that's what we're gonna talk about in this short five-minute episode.

[00:01:24] And so let's get started. Now, I did say that it's the beginning of the year, and this is usually when people start off real motivated to make changes. You know, we may have new year's resolutions. I don't know. We may have a list of goals. I know that for me, I always have goals. I'm always working on something, and so for me, it's a continuation of making healthy choices, especially when I go out to a restaurant or where I'm traveling, or if I'm traveling.

[00:01:51] I need to make healthy choices when it comes to what I eat. And so that's what I'm gonna talk to you about. And by the end of the episode, make sure that you click on the link below because I am gonna share with you a guide that I put together for you as a gift. It's called Maya's Guide to a Whole Food Plan-Based Diet.

[00:02:10] And you know, you can download this. It's a PDF form, and you can use it as a guide. You can print it out as well. It's a practical guide towards incorporating more plant-based foods into your lifestyle. And this is what I say, that when it comes to plant-based nutrition, there is a lot of misinformation out there.

[00:02:28] People often think that there will not get enough protein or that they have to give up their favorite foods. However, this cannot be further from the truth. Plant-based diets are not only healthy, but they can help to prevent a reverse disease. They contain nutrients that are essential to our health, and these include antioxidants, phytonutrients, and fiber.

[00:02:49] In addition, plant-based diets help lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and they help regulate blood sugar levels. So incorporating more plant-based foods into your diet is an excellent start towards improving your health. The problem is that you may know what you're supposed to do, like you may have an idea of what to eat, but you may not know how to get started.

[00:03:11] And you know, this is where the month of January is where we're gonna support you in making those choices. So for today's episode, my recommendation is to download the guide that I've put together. I'm gonna talk to you in that guide about three steps that you can already start doing today, such as.

[00:03:30] Thinking about three vegetarian meals that you can already eat, and then start thinking about recipes that you can change or adapt to be more plant-based. And then of course, I'm gonna give you some websites where you can find delicious recipes. But there are other things people don't know where to start.

[00:03:47] What am I supposed to eat? How much is it gonna cost? How long is it gonna take to do all of this? How can I swap things so that they're still delicious? There's so many questions. So in my guide, I have those answers. Also, this month we'll talk about eating out. And my guide also has a kitchen checklist. Meaning what do you wanna have in your pantry?

[00:04:06] What are some of the staples? What about those foods that you know are supposed to be organic? Is it too expensive to eat this way? So we're gonna be answering those questions this month, and as a matter of fact, I invite you to ask me questions. You can email me at plant-basedmaya@gmail.com, or I have a link that I'm gonna put where you can leave a voicemail and just ask me a question so that I can help answer the questions here on the episodes as well.

[00:04:36] Also, in case you're not familiar, I have a couple of things. I have an Instagram that I'm very active at, that's at Maya underscore h l s underscore podcast. And I'm putting together a women's support group. The link is bit BT ly slash mayas tribe. That's for serious people who actually wanna make changes this year and is for women.

[00:05:02] And so the link for my guide is bit bt.ly/slash mayas practical tips. So make sure that you follow and make sure you click on all the links that I'm sharing with you. And then, finally, if you're in. And you wanna walk with myself and my husband? We are resuming our walks this month. It's bit BT ly slash walk with Dr.

[00:05:28] Riz. I would love for you to join us this month on the third Saturday of the month. And again, my friends, thank you for being a listener.
