Welcome to another video. This time Maya makes a recipe from the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine's A Vegan Thanksgiving Guide. This was the first time we made it. We decided to omit peas since neither one of us likes them.

You can make the shepherd's pie with white potatoes if you are not a fan of sweet potatoes. The filling is made with lentils and mushrooms. Pick your favorite mushrooms.

INGREDIENTS:
Serves 5
*2 tablespoons red wine
*1 tsp dried thyme
*1/2 tsp dried rosemary
*1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
*3 cups white button or cremini mushrooms or 2 cups minced cauliflower
*1 cup finely chopped onion
*1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
*1/2 cup finely chopped celery
*2 tablespoons whole-wheat pastry flour
*3 1/2 tablespoons tamari
*1 teaspoon vegan Worcestershire sauce (optional)
*2 tablespoons tomato paste
*1 cup water
*2 1/2 cups cooked lentils
*1/2 to 2/3 cup frozen peas (didn't use)
*2 cups cubed cooked sweet potato
*2 teaspoons reduced-sodium tamari
*1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
*few pinches of freshly grated nutmeg
*freshly ground black pepper to taste
*1/3 cup breadcrumbs (I used Panko)
*Pinch of sea salt (optional)
